Tet Envelope 2023

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, I designed a red envelope for personal use. According to ancient stories, the order of the zodiac was determined in a race. For the Chinese New Year, the animal in the zodiac for this year would be rabbit. However, in the Vietnamese version of the story, a cat takes its place. It was said in the story that the cat and rat both rode on the back of the ox in order to cross a river. Towards the end of the ride, the rat pushed the cat into the river, hence their status as mortal enemies.

As a Vietnamese-American, I noticed that the choices for cat-related red envelopes were lacking. So I took the initiative to make my own.
